Get well, Steve Jobs.

Today Apple shares fell 8% to $78.40 in after-hours trading.

And analysts say shares are expected to be down by down 21% with earnings at  $1.39 per share compared to last year’s earnings of $1.76., mainly because a lot of stockholders are taking their shares out since he announced he was sicker than he thought.

But, all the money and numbers mean nothing if he’s not healthy and happy.

So my thoughts and prayers are with him.

  1. It turns out Apple was up up up. Hippies.

  2. First my 401K, now my Apple stock….the world is coming to an end.

What is Obama going to do about this??? Pump 1 Bil into Apple now, or maybe give everyone an iPhone stimulus certificate check.

  3. I’m sure he will be okay he just needs a break to recharge his batteries. He will probably come back with all sorts of new ideas when he feels better.

  4. He needs to take robitussin, it fixs everything. Just pour a little ‘tussin on it.

  5. yikes. so many people to pray for these days. <3

  6. eh. I blame the turtlenecks.

  7. hope he gets well I just bought my iphone 3g last week and i need him to bring copy and paste, forwarding, and mms messaging

  8. hope he gets well soon

  9. “But, all the money and numbers means nothing if he’s not healthy and happy.”

    Well said, Olivia.

The guys debating whether and what reputation Steve Jobs deserves are missing the point. This is a man who has become a public figure, and now because of that his personal and otherwise private health problems have become the subject of intense media coverage/speculation. You have to sympathize for his situation.

It’s ridiculous that one man’s health affects the stock prices so much, but that just proves a larger point: the stock market, and economics in general, are based a lot more on perception (vs. reality) than most people realize.

  10. Olivia, you should go visit him and make him some pie so he will feel better. Just make sure it isn’t apple :) He’s probably sick of that by now!

  11. I know that he had cancer in 2004, hopefully it hasn’t come back and is worse.
I love my mac and touch.
    Get well soon!! :)

  12. Jobbers will bounce back. He’s still young.

  13. Love my mac + pods…get well soon, Steve.

Ashton Kutcher as Steve Jobs in…”Apple: The Movie.” Lock.

  14. @treats. You need to get a clue and take a history lesson. Before the appearance of the ipods, Apple was a floundering company. Nobody was buying Mac computers and their OS was used by 1% of all computer users worldwide. No one in their right mind would call Jobs an icon when nobody in the civilized world think Apple products were so great that they would want to buy it.
Enter the ipods. The ipods were NOT the first digital music player. In fact, I believe Creative was the earliest (if not the first) to come up with the idea of playing music digitally. Jumping on the digital music bandwagon, he sold his soul to the music companies to get itunes rolling and the rest is history.

  15. The street can be harsh like that. Apple will probably be down 21% like you said tomorrow and then once his “temp” successor is announced the stock will kick back up about 35%. I hope he gets well, and if he doesn’t I’m sure he’ll be the first to say it’s been a hell of a ride!

  16. He would definitely be screened at an airport…. If you catch my drift.

  17. That Apple stock is taking a hit simply because of his health problems just goes to show how dumb people are. Seriously, investors, get a frickin’ grip.

Good luck and godspeed with the recovery, Mr. Jobs.

  18. @Will in NY and Joel:

You guys are clueless. I’m definitely not a big fan of Apple products, but Steve Jobs is an icon. The guy went from nothing with Steve Wozniak to a billionaire and an icon of the industry. What have YOU done that is even remotely as impressive?

The guy is smart, ambitious and passionate about what he does. Don’t hate because he isn’t a 9-5 drone.

  19. Is it just me or does he look a little like Ashton Kutcher in that pic?”Call me Kootch!”

  20. @joel, well said!

Hey Munn, how come you don’t feel sad for people like Richard Fuld and Madoff? Jobs has been peddling crap masquerading as technological advances for years. He is no different from the music executive who signed Britney Spears to her first singing contract.

  21. Interesting picture you chose. I thought Steve Jobs died or something because of it :(

  22. Get well Steve. You genius bastard that makes me buy cool shit!

  23. kind of looks likes Ashton Kutcher…get well soon Jobs and save Disney.

  24. are you serious??? since when did you become so passionate about corporate america……for real< steve is an overpayed figure-head….not unlike the queen of england. Apple’s stock price is down due to innumerable reasons….and once the “street” wakes up they will be pleased to find tim cook at the helm. Stay funny!!

  25. Get well dude! :P

  26. @25- Pirates of Silicon Valley. Pretty good flick actually.

  27. A young Steve Jobs is a dead ringer for Noah Wyle who played him in a not so bad t.v. movie about 9 years ago. Not an Apple fan, yet I wish him the best.

  28. agreed…someone get him an idoc.

  29. Get well Steve Jobs. Remember an Apple a day keeps the doctor away.

  30. Karma is indeed a biatch! I can’t wait for Steve’s death soon enough.

    p.s. I shorted Apple stock.

  31. Steve is actually a prick, karma is a bitch!

  32. PooChukinMonkey | January 14, 2009 at 9:12 pm

Best wishes to Steve and his family. I hope his sense of humor helps him through this time of illness.

  33. depressing news today. anyway, i wasn’t an apple guy, but i still don’t want to see someone in pain. At least he was a trooper getting this far. Hope he gets better.

  34. The guy deserves the much needed break. I bet he works like a dog at Apple. However bad his condition is, the job ain’t making him any heather. I’m glad he’s taking off some time.

  35. It’s good he’s taking time off of work to focus on getting better.

  36. Dag yo, that picture is mad ridiculous. Look at dude’s hair. Crazy as hell.

  37. Did Carson Daily copy Mr. Jobs’ black finger nail polish thingy or what? Does Carson Daily even do that anymore? Why does Carson Daily act black when he interviews a black person. Why am I still talking about Carson Daily?

But seriously, I don’t know what he has but I hope he gets better.

  38. I like Mac’s, and Steve is/ was a bastard( Sleeping with rocks stars ex lovers to try and experience what they experienced…), and how about the Lisa Computer?, Ruthless to his employees) , I used to drive by one of his houses in Palo Alto to head to the comic shop as a kid. I hope he survives his cancer, and keeps Apple going, though.

  39. Get well soon Steve. Hafta see more of the turtleneck.

  40. Damn you Fubar! I was about to make the same damn observation. He really really does. Crap. Does that mean Kutcher is a good candidate for the Steve Jobs biopic?

  41. boy he was a strapping young man back in his day.

  42. @3- I was thinking that too. O, you should send him a get-well pie!

  43. Grassy Grassy | January 14, 2009 at 8:07 pm

He don look so good. This dude sees the world like Neo sees the matrix, reads deeper language in the code and puts it work. I wish I could do that. I wonder if he can use his mindhead power to recode the sickness? I’m not even shitting.

  44. He looks so young to be ill, maybe the vest is cutting off his circulation…

  45. That’s Steve in his acid dropping/ scream therapy days.

Didn’t you guys say he just and some kind of imbalance that was being treated with medication? Maybe they should bring back the Woz.

  46. Young Jobs kinda remind me of Justin Long. I wonder if that’s why they hired for the Mac/PC ads. I hope he gets better soon.

  47. To one of the great minds of our life time…get well soon.

  48. The Young steve looks like Ashton Kucher, lol

yes, I pray he is well soon too.

  49. That’s a young Steve?!?!
Geez, I don’t wanna get old. As I look down on my mac I can’t help but thank Steve. Hope he gets well.
